So after 17 nights in the truly awesome Itacare it was time to move on, we could have stayed longer but all things come to an end!
So we decided our next stop would be be Lencois in a national park west of Salvador.
Sarah decided yesterday that the only way we would definitely leave Itacare would be to book our bus tickets rather than turning up and getting on. We soon realised why we booked the tickets as we were stood in a bar at 2 am knowing we had to be up in 5 hours to get the bus...oh dear....
But we had an amazing last night in Itacare. We have made so many freinds in the time we were there it was crazy and sad to say goodbye to so many cool people.
So our journey back to Salvador was pretty un eventful we left the hostel at 8 am, certain members of the previous nights party were still drinking in the garden!!! I did consider a beer however buses and toilets are grim. We slept the hangovers off most of the way to Salvador which was a 5 hour ride.
Once we navigated ferrys and taxis we arrived at the bus station with 30 minutes to spare to get our bus to Lencois, brilliant!
No its full!!! We have never seen a full bus in 9 weeks in south america!! So the advise we received from our next hostel owner that there was no need to book as its never full in low season was terrible advice!
We then learnt that the next bus was at 11 pm- great... 8 hours wondering around a dodgy bus terminal in Salvador- just where you want to be!!!
luckily there was a very large shopping center across the road from the bus terminal next to the favelas!
So this is where we find ourselves now, sitting in a coffee shop writing this blog article, come back tomorrow for the next thrilling instalment and find out what happens when the sun goes down around the Salvador bus terminal! it may be interesting, but I hope it isnt :-(
